This was shot earlier today inside the Vista House which is a monument located high above the Columbia River overlooking the gorge.

Here's a link to the website if interested:

A different view of the inside. It really has some fascinating architecture.

That's a beautiful and interesting building, Steve.

Was it difficult to get a decent exposure, given the dark interior and the light through some of the windows and those polished floors?

Really a nice looking place, I like that cliff setting. We have a big house like that too here in NC but it is not in as near a beautiful a setting as this.

Thanks Bob. Yep, it was kind of an issue but I just keep a constant eye on the histogram for something like this. I did have to adjust some levels in post but it wasn't bad.

Oooh how cool-it's barely a memory but we were there in 78. We visited the dam and fishery, too...if I remember right it was Bonneville Dam-ever been there?

Thanks Juanita, it was renovated in 2006 and this was the first time I've been inside so I'm not sure how different it looks.

I've been all through the area but never in the dam or fishery. Maybe we'll make that a goal next trip to the area.

I love the picture of the Columbian River. When I was driving a truck, we were in Portland quite often and I loved the drive on I-84 along the River.....well, except that one time when everything was flooded and the highway was closed. We had to go up over another highway, I think 24 or something just to get into the city. We had a load of beer on the trailer that was supposed to be loaded onto a ship in Seattle so it could be on its way to Alaska. They held the ship for 4 days until we could finally get up there! That was a pretty awesome trip!!
