Just wondering where the best place you've been to with your camera and what is the best thing you've photographed?
Does that make sense?

It's difficult to round it down to one, but one that stands out is the old wrecking yard I shot in last year. It was full very old cars that were covered with foilage, plus it had snowed that day. Everywhere you turned there was something interesting to shoot.

Thanks This is in a predominently amish area, so the locals aren't big on outsiders, especially not outsiders with cameras. So, I thought I'd just pull over for a couple quick shots from the road. I couldn't have been out of my vehicle a half a minute when the owner pulled up. He was pretty upset at first but after some conversation, he gave me full access to photograph in trade for some copies. lol!

Steve i would love to be able to follow the amish around and photograph there day to day activites. But getting them to agree to it is a task altogether. Did you get some good shots? I would love to see them sometime.

Nice shots Steve, a real auto graveyard. It looks like it would be a great place to find old parts.I noticed a 53 and 60 Chevy!

Best place I've been to with A camera was climbing on Mount Shasta, northern California, in 1976. A Nikon F owned by one of the guys in our three-man climbing group. In the course of the many climbs we shared, everybody in the group took turns using the camera. Shasta's a beautiful mountain, it's big enough that it can generate its own local weather, and the weather can change in minutes. And from the summit of a 14,000ft+ peak the views are usually tremendous. Somewhere in storage I've got boxes and boxes of slides.
The best thing I've photographed so far is a girls soccer game a couple of years ago. State playoffs. The game was incredibly physical, even violent, something I hadn't seen before in any of their games and hadn't expected of girls at all. The game started in late afternoon sun and went into the dark of night. It went into triple-overtime and a "shootout" tiebreaker. Each team takes ten shots on goal. By then, the girls were beat up, bloodied, exhausted, and all had that "thousand-meter stare" one usually sees in a battle-weary soldier. The team I was there to shoot won on the final kick, but the refs -- exhausted themselves -- weren't sure if that was the final and winning kick. A few seconds of delay, then pandemonium. And pure heartbreak on the other side.

I'd love to get them out and digitize them. And if I'm going to search the garage for them, now's the season to do it when the garage isn't Black Widow Central.
Do you still have the shots of the Amish? Especially of that old man.

No, I only shot the cars that time and didn't get any people shots. I think I do have some photos of some Amish relatives from our family reunion somewhere.

I'm still a newbie- only got into photography 1 or 2 years ago. But, I went to a public horse stable in June with my cousin. There were cows, lamas, horses and sheep. This one gold-red mare named Dash posed for me like a model I like macro- flowers, grass, bugs etc., but animals (and my little brother) are fun too.
