Spring Photo Contest - 2008

I would like to make a challenge to all for a Spring Photo Contest ! I would like the Subject to be an Open one. Pick your own Spring Photo Contest "Photo".
The Contest would run from April 1 to May 31st. Giving all plenty of time and not be rushed. Have 3 Winners 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Class. On the Honor System all Photo's would have to be taken during the above time frame, No Archives !

Try to hold Photo's to 8 of your best !

The Winner's would be announced on June 15th.

I will make up 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Certificates and send them to the winner's. Hopefully they can be posted here on the Net also.

God Bless,
James / k8mia

Okay, good luck all

(James does there have to be a subject? Why not let everyone express their 'spring feelings' as they're perceived individually?)

(this is just a suggestion )

OK, Godwilling I will be participating with this one - hoping to buy a new camera this month as soon as I get the chance

I really hope a lot of members will participate, I find contests such fun and mostly when a lot of photos are there to chose from

Darn, I took some really good spring photos before April 1st too! Are we limited to how many photos we can upload for the contest?

(Daffodil picture was taken yesterday. I didn't do any cropping, just resized it)

Thanks, James! I might be tempted to submit one more picture... I'm really bad at deciding what to enter since I can never make up my mind!

Very nice, Sarah! I like the backlighting through the petals. Much more interesting than shooting with the sun.

Thanks Bob! We had some really beautiful weather yesterday, and the afternoon sun was at the perfect angle for the backlighting effect on the flowers!

One thing to note about Steve's shot... rule of thirds. His subject flower is offset from dead-center. That asymmetry is classic composition.

Plus, it's just a pretty cool flower, made even cooler by the dew.

Just curious, Steve. Is that dew natural or from a spray bottle? Either way, it's a great shot.

Although I have used the spray bottle technique, it's rarely necessary since we have so much rain. In this case it's actual rain.

It is also in the general forum. Both threads are quite busy, which is strange...good, but strange.

Hmmm I thought the one in the general forum was about talking about the contest and this one is about placing the photos....

You think about moving it to this section?

Since Spring will not arrive here for at least another couple of weeks my first Spring Contest photo is of a Barn & Silo. You know it's Spring because most of the snow is gone.
