One thing that you can do is to compose so that there's less area behind him, and more in front of him.

do you have any software to do any editing that way??

A one of things i can see you could have used to make the shot better is better exposure.

Justin I love this type of photo, just a shame I don't know any skateboarders or bmx riders lol.

In a magazine that I read lately they took a photo of a skateboarder with the photographer lieing on the ground so that they were looking up at the skateboarder. They also showed photos with a wider angle so that you could see where the skateboarder was moving to. I hope that makes sense.

I would have to agree with FloppyDog. A wider aperture to blure the background would help the subject pop a bit. I would also crop the photo a bit, putting the subject in the right of the photo a bit. You could always blur the background with PS. I think that would help a lot.

This is what I'm kinda talking about. You would have to blur out the bushes between the fence a bit, but you get what I'm talking about. Cropping it so the skater is in the upper right gives you the sense of movement. Gives him a place to go.

I myself would have cropped the other way, with the skater in the upper left hand corner. But it is all up to you. And everyone is going to have a different opinion.

The reason I suggested cropping the skater in the upper right is so you can see where the skater is going. the space to the left allows the eye to think that that's the direction he's flying.
