This weekend I was a judge and official photographer for the Sacramento regionals for the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair. This is an annual thing for me (6th year judging, 2nd year photographing) and it's great fun. The kids blow me away. Seriously, the upper division kids are scary. We've got high school juniors and seniors working on cures for cancer.
Anyhow, one of the guest speakers at the awards ceremony this year is an NBA cheerleader who also works as a crime scene investigator for a Bay Area police department. She combined her lifelong love of science with an interest in law enforcement. She showed up in her full police uniform: jumpsuit, combat boots and equipment belt. (I
loves me them wimmen in uniform!

) A very engaging speaker.
To sharpen the angle of the shot, I photographed this from the mouth of the orchestra pit (also, that @#%^& laptop display blocked her face from my original vantage point). Though I used a wide-angle for most of the ceremony, I used my standard Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 telephoto for her. Shutter 1/100th, f/3.5, ISO 400. Stage lighting supplemented by SB-800 speedlight flash with mini-softbox.
