This forum will start a photo-contest according to the following rules:
1. everybody sends in 3 of his/her most favorite photos
2. each and every registered member will be allowed to cast his/her vote -but not for him/herself
3. the winning photo will be added to the rotating photo-gallery on the home-page of this website
Send in your pictures everyone
(I will open a separate thread for this later, when details are finalized)

I know Greg
Tonight I'm going outside to see the moon eclipse and take my camera with me. I am curious to find out what will develop out of it. I mean: no moon and no flash adds up to a black photo according to logic, but I'm gonna try anyway

You won't need flash when photographing the moon. If you are using a pop up flash, its useful range will likely be less than 15 feet from the camera.

On topic again
Could, whoever is interested in participating in a contest, 'register' here, please - that way we can start a list that will hopefully grow and be finally able to get this show on the road

I don't believe I will participate in the contest, but I would be more than happy to help out any way you need.

Hey yo, that's right, but I want to change that. I want everybody to feel completely comfortable and enjoying themselves here
Do you think I should open a separate topic (sticky if must be) for registering names? (Just registering not yet submitting photos - which will start at a later date when more photographers have entered) - I think.
Please let me have your feedback on this, every opinion counts

I'm not sure if registering is all that important.. Give it some time for people to start participating again and then get a gallery going for entries? A deadline to get the images submitted? Different strokes at every forum or board I go to.. It is ultimately up to you.. Lead the way!

Why??
In the event I were to win, I am not sure I would feel comfortable licensing my photos to be displayed in the opening slideshow. I would ultimately feel more comfortable helping with things behind the scenes.

Here's an idea for the contest, it is something that I am borrowing from an old forum I used to belong to (Sonycams.com). Lets do this as a blind challenge. What I mean is that all the contestants send their entry via email to a moderator (guess that's you chica), who then posts them in a special photo album with no name attached. votes are done based on the photograph and not the photographer.
If this sounds like something that will work for this contest, I can give more details, but it is pretty simple. It is also very effective at getting an unbiased vote, and feelings don't get hurt as easily.

That seems like a good set-up as well...
I'm getting confused There are very many good ideas going round now.
Do you really think people would vote based on photographer and not photo?

I've seen it happen before, but since this is a relatively new group, it might not be an issue. I just see it as a way to avoid hurt feelings. The blind challenge was a huge success with Sonycams, and there was never a question that it was the picture that won the challenge.

Okay, you got me convinced (again ) I'm gonna suggest it like that. Let me work out the details and I'll be on it

Sounds good, I think everyone will like the blind challenge version when it actually happens. Again, I would like to offer any help in doing it. Just let me know what I can do.
