Nikon Releases The New D40 Digital SLR

Nikon has just released its smallest Digital SLR camera ever. Weighting just over 16 ounces, but packed with lots power, this new digital SLR camera makes photography easier than ever.
High-resolution images in the D40 are possible due to the Nikon’s high performance 6.1-megapixel Dx-format, CCD imaging sensor and outstanding image processing engine. All these features allow the user to receive outstanding color and sharpness like never before.
Even new SLR users will be able to operate this camera easily due to its intuitive controls that help you just point and shoot beautiful pictures. The new D40 features a super fast 0.18 second startup along with a speedy shutter response and rapid action shooting at up to 2.5 frames per second, allowing the user to freeze those special moments in life.
It also includes 3x 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikon lens that has a compact and light design, and is especially fit to use with the DX format digital SLR thus offering a verity of shooting situations.
Now with a larger and brighter 2.5inch color LCD monitor, it is easier to playback images and see function menus. Allowing 19 times magnification and large type fonts, viewable and more accessible menus, and 3 display options - Classic, Graphic and Wallpaper, the easy controlling of this camera increases good results. A new and advanced HELP menu system with assisting images allows the user to use the question mark icon indicating the help is offered for the item currently selected.
Now offering In-camera new image editing options, it is possible to have the creativity to edit the pictures without having to use a computer. The options include:
D-Lighting, automatically balances light, bringing out details and enhancing results. Adding a creative shine, while adding a general exposure balance;
In Camera Trimming, that allows users to trim images from within the camera, thus enabling creation of smaller files with smaller display sizes for easier sharing;
In-Camera Image Editing Functions, allow the user to fix flaws like Red-Eye already in the camera, without having to use a computer. It also enables the user to combine a pair of RAW files in order to create an image within the camera as a RAW or JPEG file. Also it is possible to change monochrome settings from normal to black & white, Sepia and Cyanotype.
The D40 offers a 3-area Auto focus, delivering a faster, more effective Auto focus for sharper images.
The camera also offers image optimization options allowing the photographer the ability to adjust color contrast and sharpening, according to the view type. Settings include Normal, Softer, Vivid, Portrait, Custom and Black & White, each adjusted automatically.
A Built-In Speedlight with i-TTL automatic flash control, appraises flash exposure with unbelievable precision to accomplish major results. The built in speedlight is always ready to produce beautiful exposures in both darkness and daylight conditions. All this, to help you produce perfect pictures.
Eight digital vari-program modes include: Auto Flash-off, Portrait, Landscape, Child, Sports, Close-up and Night Portrait. All of them are adjusted automatically for optimal results under different conditions.
A Bright, accurate SLR viewfinder makes composition easier, and also helps focusing in low light photography possible. It ensures precise composition with its bright and sharp viewfinder with 0.8x.
Each of the above mentioned conditions allows lighting conditions and possibilities, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, hue, tone, sharpening and more to help you make creative photography as easy as rotating the mode dial.
