I was thinking about buying a Nikon D90 camera.I like to take scenery pictures and animal pictures more than anything else.I was also interested in trying to take night time pictures...lightning,the moon,etc...Would this be a nice camera for what I have in mind? Can you use a cable release with this camera...I think that is what it is called...where you aren't holding the camera when you take the picture using a cable.Thanks.

The D90 uses a $17 ML-L3 remote release - which apparently works better than a cable release and fits in your pocket.

The D90 is much better than the D40 in low light, both at lower ISOs as well as less noisy higher ISOs.
My first night with it I took it a bar & shot & 1600 ISO & was happy with the pictures, and shot at 800 and was happy with the shutter speed.

My biggest reson for upgrading was the low light shooting. Everything else after that was icing on the cake

Well, Nikon D90 Features Auto Active D-Lighting: Selectable and Automatic, Active D-Lighting optimizes details within shadows and highlights, taming high-contrast situations in real time.

The D90 is a great camera in general. I would like to make one correction to an above post. If your looking to use the bulb mode that the D90 has the IR remote is not for you as you have to use it from the front of the camera. I forget if it can even be used for the bulb mode, often used in extreme dark situations or for unique star designs. I prefer the corded shutter release. I use it for everything from waterfalls, star gazing, and even model shoots.

I think D90 is much better than the D40.
