Nikon D40 does not display all the topics in Custom Settings, it only displays 01 thru 06. When on topic 6 "No Memory Card" if you press the down arrow it goes back to 01 "Beep" setting. I am not able to change settings 07 thru 14.
I reset the camera to the default settings and it still does not go to the other topics. Please Help this Newbie.

I know nothing about Nikons, but could it be that you are in full auto mode? If that is the case, certain menu items might be disabled because the camera will be figuring them out on its own. If you are not in full auto mode, I have no idea why you aren't able to access your entire menu.

Try going into the Setup Menu and turn on "Full Menus".

Thankyou very much phototrekker and Jim Hobson.
I went to full menu and it worked.
I have finally gathered the courage to stop using auto mode and have slowly ventured into Manual mode.
Again thankyu for your help

Don't be scared. Just jump in, the water's fine
After a while you'll get used to it.

Yep, you will find that once you start shooting manual, you may never want to go back to auto...I haven't shot in auto mode in 5 years. Even stay away from program. I occasionally shoot in aperture priority if speed is an issue, but manual is where its at!
