I would like to confirm some info received. I'm looking for a starter camera. I was looking at the Nikon D3000 and D5000. I was told the D3000 and D5000 replaced the D40, D60, and D80 series. I was told the D3000 is very slow when shooting compared to the D5000. I compared the two cameras and the differences:
D3000
10.2 megapix
up to 3872x2592 res
sensor CCD
D5000
12.3 megapix
up to 4288x2848
face detection
movie mode
AC adapter
sensor CMOS
My immediate goal is to shoot in low lit restaurants, attach an external flash and shoot mainly for websites. In the future, I would like to add a wireless flash for possible studio work. I was told one sensor is better than the other?
I was told Cannon cameras and lenses are cheaper, but Nikon puts out a better lense. Any thoughts on the above? I checked the D60 and D80 series and prices have skyrocketed on these cameras.
Not sure if I should go with the standard 55mm lense package or get the 200mm lense package.
