Well I hope I'm doing things right. I wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Angie and I'm very new getting into the photography. I have been putting pictures on FLIKR for a couple of years, but now I'm getting more and more into photographing things and was looking for a place to chat about similiar interests, googled photography and came across this site...

Here is a couple of my favorite photos I've taken... (mostly this fall)

welcome to the board, Angie. From the photos you've posted her i like the railroad tracks and the sun flower the most. Welcome, looking forward to seeing more of your work.

welcome, and yes you will like it here. I also agree that the railroad photo is very nice. I like the depth it gives

Thanks for the feedback. I uploaded a few pix on my page. Does anyone have the ideal size of picture uploading? I didn't want to put real big pics on here but the display has that magnifying glass thing on there so you can see detail.

Of course I know nothing about shutter speed, aperature, proper lighting, this is just a new hobby. Any advice as to the best place to start for this information. Been thinking a photography class or two but the ones near me require an SLR camera and I only have the Nikon Coolpix p80.

Also any advice as to the best forums on here that I may want to read to put me in the right direction would be much appreciated so I'm not asking a bunch of questions that have already been answered elsewhere.

Cool shots - - Welcome to the board - Great tracks shot, reminds me of when I visited the bluebell railroad in the UK. Just goto love the way pictures can bring back memories.

the ideal size i believe is 500mp on the longest side of your picture

Welcome Angie. I love the first and the third photos. Of course I like anything with railroad tracks in them!

Welcome to the board. For a beginner, you're off to an excellent start. I also like the tracks and the sunflower the best, although your other flower photos show you've a grasp on selective focus. Well done.

I think the real "advice" I could offer: Take small steps.
