Hi Kasai, welcome here I hope you can enjoy our company

I bet you love music? (so do I)

I have no favorite music photographer, but there are some photo's that caught my special attention that were made of musicians. One of them is the famous Jim Morrison photo

The bottom photo is Mick Jagger and Keith Richards Are you familiar with the work of Mick Rock? He has produced many iconic images of various musicians over the years (he took some great photos of the 70s music scene). I think he is my favourite music photographer. Here are a few of his photos:

David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed

Freddie Mercury

Bob Marley

What do you think?

Freddie Mercury and Bob Marley's photos are most certainly famous....

I never paid attention to the photographers taking these photos but I guess they had their fair share in creating 'the' image. This goes for Marley as well as Mercury, I think.

This famous photo of Janis Joplin for example... I know it like a child knows a fairytale, but.. no idea who's the photographer. Still this image made it all over the world

I like that photo I guess you are right, there are so many famous photos of musicians out there and nobody knows who the photographers are behind them...it's almost like knowing a portrait painting well without knowing who the artist is.

Just had a look at the Mick Rock website mickrock.com and he's got a DVD of his work coming out called 'Punk Drunk Love' - looks pretty good. He's even been interviewed about it by the BBC!:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/player/nol/newsid_6600000/ newsid_6601900/6601919.stm?bw=bb&mp=wm

It seems that Mick Rock played an important part in creating the hype around certain musicians

Yep. Seen some of those famous images passing by on that link you gave. Certainly was a time for fame without money. Like he said "I was like very la-la" -

probably without the money the names didn't get mentioned as well. Good that now they are at least retrospectively acknowledged.

Yeah, I don't know exactly...! It hasn't arrived yet. I read about it in the NME: check out this article about the photographer travelling with the Kooks -
http://www.nme.com/news/the-kooks/28154

It must be weird for him to still be on the road now, after photographing Queen and Bowie etc 30 years ago!
As for the DVD, I'll let you know when it turns up. I get the impression it's kind of like a retrospective exhibition (on a disk)!? Sort of like a coffee-table book I guess. Hope it's good, cos I really admire his work!

Ah, I see what you mean

"It must be weird for him to still be on the road now, after photographing Queen and Bowie etc 30 years ago!"

Kidding?? What about Mick Jagger, David Bowie himself, Paul McCartney and many many others that are still doing their gigs around the world as if time had stopped?
