Well, I would start by getting the focus a bit sharper on the flower itself. The focus is locked on your fingers at the first knuckle. This is probably the closest you can focus. By bring the camera back a tad, you should have been able to lock on the subject. The exposure is a bit hot (over exposed). If you were to come down about 1.5 stops on your exposure, you would gain a lot of the detail that is missing. The concept behind your photo is good, but the composition is off, which is further degraded by the wrong focal point.

Next time, try putting the flower stem between your pointer finger and middle finger, leaving all your fingers outstretched and together. Start your frame just below the base of your fingers. Have them go diagonally left or right leading to the flower offset slightly to the upper right or upper left. Use a moderate aperture to blur the hand slightly and focus on the flower itself. The fingers will form leading lines called railroad tracks leading the eye to the flower, which becomes the focus point to the photograph.

I hope that my critique didn't come off too harsh, and that you found some of my suggestions helpful to make the photograph better next time. Like I said, you have a good concept, its just the execution needs a little polish.
