Hi Susan,

Something about that perfectly upright old corrugated metal shack on the side distracts me from the charm of the purely wooden wreck next to it. Besides, that wooden shack is so wonderfully dilapidated, I'd prefer more detailed closeups of the ramshackle nature of the building -- the dried and worn grain of the siding, the gaping holes in the roof, etc.

How do you like your new camera?

I like it! Can you boost the saturation with it? I love old buildings like this..

Great subject, but not quite enough order to the composition. It looks a bit rushed and not thought out. The scraggly trees are part of the problem as they really obsure the subject. A better option would have possilby been getting closer and picking out details, or a corner instead of trying to capture the entire structure.

Looking at the picture, my eyes seem to wonder around with no point of interest to really focus on. What were your options from different angles? Were you forced to shoot from position because of background clutter? I would really be interested in seeing some other views and compositions on this.

I like the colors, the light and the sharpness that conceals, but give the impression the shack is dissolving itself into the nature around it again which I like, but I don't like the shack near it either. I think the shack deserves being the solo object.

(btw, how old is it? is there anything known about that?)

Great comments everyone. This "building" is right on the way home from work. I pass it every day. Now that it is light when I leave work and I always have a camera with me I will have the chance to shoot ie over again. There is a fence between it and the road but it was open that day. I don't expect it to be open every day. In fact it isn't; I got lucky. I agree with taking out the shack to the right but I guess I was in somewhat of a hurry. I will also try to bump up the saturation and if I find the fence open again I will go in closer and try some other angles. I knew this wasn't the perfect shot but I hoped some of you would give me something to "shoot for" (sorry about the pun) next time. I have been admiring this building for years. I love old buildings too Susie. Thanks all

You have any idea about the origins of it, Susan?

I'm afraid I know nothing about it Chica. Right now it is on land owned by a wholesale nursery, thus the fence which is frrequently closed. I imagine it will eventually be torn down. I will try to get some more pictures this week if it isn't raining or snowing.

Susan, That little camera dose a good job. What stories this building could tell. You know I like it just the way it is, it gives me a feeling of forgotten stories. It would be nice to see more. This would look good in Sepia maybe even with a torn edge or stain mark.
