Color Infrared Film:
I cut down, shoot and promote Kodak Color Infrared film for 120 medium format. The film is designed for aerial photography, but I have found that it performs very well as an equal replacement to the discontinued Kodak EIR for 35mm. This film is faster than EIR 35mm, with an asa rating of 400. Otherwise, It is basically the same emulsion, but comes in large bulk rolls. Cutting it down proved to be a challenge, but in the end, it was well worth the effort..
The film is also sensitive to ultraviolet, with a measurable response at 400 nanometers. The working asa turned out to be in the 20-30 range, comparable to that of many b&w films, Very unusual for a color film. By comparison, Fujichrome tungsten has a working ISO somewhere around 0.05 under similar conditions. Moreover, the image showed evidence of color discrimination, which Fujichrome fails to do, producing only monochromes.
All of my example photos were taken at either 200 asa or 400 asa with a light yellow, medium orange or deep red filter. Processed in standard E-6.
For anyone interested in discussing this project, I would be happy to correspond.

Dean Bennici
