The swim team gave me an hour to shoot team photos and individuals of 82 kids. The first 15 minutes was burned up getting the group photo set-up, leaving me 40 minutes to shoot individual portraits. moo!

Needless to say, they all look relatively the same as this one.

An hour? 82 kids? 82? KIDS?

AN HOUR?!?

They were crazy to give you so little time and it's amazing you got them all. Photographing high school kids is like herding cats. Cats on crack.

What kind of crowd- and traffic-control did you have for the shoot? Did you have an assistant of your own, or did the coaches act as your assistants?

That's a great shot of the girl. The parents won't care that all the individual shots look the same, just as long as they came out well.

And why, oh why, do I like that swim club so much? Hmmm... I wonder...

Flop you did a really nice job.
and like BoB said the parents wont
care that all the individual shots are
the same. You did what you could
with what you had and it looks great.

Very nice. I can relate. I have about an hour this summer to shoot a 120 member band in a group shot, a group shot of 20 seniors and then individual shots of each senior.

I got smarter this year and I have an assistant lined up.

Thanks all. Yep, it was pretty crazy. I set up an SB-800 on wireless remote with a white umbrella on aperture priority. Also, shot teathered to a laptop as my wife hearded the kids. Meanwhile, we aquired a willing parent to keep track of names and frame numbers.

Holy Cow, no time for a misfire. Sounds like you gave them just enough time for the last kid to get out of the frame before shooting the next. Looks good, but the white boarder (top part) looks a little to close to her head to me and her top half (chest, face)looks a little hot compared to her legs to me. But still looks good. Good Job!

Hope you got paid per kid and not by the hour.
