Well folks, it looks like it is time once again for another blind photo challenge here in the photography community. The theme for this challenge is courtesy of Marie who was our winner for the Summertime challenge. The theme for this round will be Home is Where the Heart Is. This theme is open to interpretation so lets get creative.

The rules are the same as they have been previously, but since we have so many new folks, I'll go back over them.

Each member can submit ONE photo for the challenge by emailing it to me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . The photo should be no larger than 500 Pixels on the longest side and in JPEG format.

Lets keep this a new photo to challenge each of you to get out with your camera. All photographs should be taken after 09-27-2007.

This is a blind challenge which means that nobody will know who took the picture except for me until the voting is completed. Please do not include any name stamps, or other identifying elements (State flags for instance) in your photograph. Also, lets not use any boarders on the photos.

For this challenge, you can do minor alterations with an image editor but no major post processing will be allowed. If there is a question on this, I will request to see the original photo, but this rule seems to be adhered to pretty well.

Voting will be done as we have in the past, but on a 5 point scale. Instructions will be shared when the voting begins, but will consist of individual entries in this forum for consideration.

Time table

Photo Submission Deadline: 10-26-2007 *NEW DEADLINE*
Challenge entries will be posted by: 10-27-2007
Voting will conclude: 11-12-2007

I will need the following information with your submissions:

Your screen name
Your real name
The title of the photograph
Date it was taken
Camera used
What (if any) post processing was used
Get these entries to me no later than 10-26-2007

Good luck and get to shooting!

I still have no idea what to photograph, NCP... this time the subject is difficult... Hope to get an idea soon, before the deadline is over, at least.

Time is drawing near for the deadline on photo entries. Be sure that I have the photos no later than Friday night at midnight. Anything that is received after that cutoff will not be considered for the challenge.

I will be out of town this weekend, but I will get to work on getting the entrants posted for voting when I get back on Sunday. They should still be up by the 22nd without any problem.

Come on folks, I've given almost a month to get pictures for this challenge. It's not like it snuck up on anyone. Fortunately we have a couple of members that wanted to participate. I'll get the pictures up after I get some sleep.

Alright, there has been an extension for submissions. You now have until Friday October 26th to get your pictures to me. Lets get some more participation here. Two entries from this many members is not a good showing, and I don't feel it would be right for me to contribute.

Maybe it is the subject matter. How about next time having no set theme. I'll bet you'd get a lot more participation.

Its more fun to have a theme of some sort. The winner gets to pick the theme, so go ahead and enter a picture. You might be the one to choose the next theme....or no theme.

The reason behind having a theme is it keeps the pictures similar enough to be compared for competition purposes. It starts to get difficult to compare a black and white portrait of a person to a full on photoshopped artistic piece.

Alright, time is running out. With the extension I have picked up only one additional picture. At least now we can have a first, second, and third place picture. I would really like to see more photos in this challenge. There is just a bit over 24 hours left before the submission deadline is here. The pictures will be posted on Saturday morning when I get home from work.

My first intention on this challenge was to take a photo of anything that represented your home, your town , your state...your country. Something that you loved about where you live.
I really didn't think this would be a difficult challenge because it could have been interpreted in many different ways.
I felt this was an ideal challenge being there were members from many different countries.

MariesImages: I think your idea left a lot of space for interpretation and I think it was a good idea. . . but still difficult
