It depends on the customer, if they want it or if they don't. And it depends on the image too.

What are the other options, Stari?

Seriously, I don't know because I don't sell mounted prints. I sell the prints and leave it to the customer to frame or mount them.

I was referring to Slide mounts. Sorry about the confusion.

Speaking of Slides, what do you think of Kodak getting rid of Kodachrome?

I work completely in the digital world, so I'm not too concerned about the loss of Kodachrome.

I was more sentimentally affected when Polaroid film stopped production (or announced they would). My second camera when I was a kid was a Polaroid Swinger.

As for cardboard slide mounts, when I did work with slides I always immediately ripped the slides out and put them in plastic mounts. I used to have a temperamental German slide-projector that occasionally got its jollies by crushing slides.

Cardboard mounts - That goes back many years - My dad used to get his slides done in cardboard mounts , but I think that was due more to cost than anything else and also the technology that was available at the time. I do remember that there was a point in time when he switched to plastic ones and never went back to the cardboard ones. If the technology has improved for cardboard ones now, it may just be a quality issue and cost point which may determine the difference - I know that a friend still uses film to capture his pictures for books and always uses slides with plastic mounts as he also does presentations (ornathologist). He does have a digital camera, but swears that his film gets better results for presentations using slides. It may also be a technology thing where many of his presentations the places have slide projectors, but not a digital projector.
