I own a Sony H10 and I am not satisfied with the performance that it gives at the wide end so to get a greater area of view I have opted to order a 0.4x wide angle converter manufactured by Opteka or any other brand(in case I do not get the first one).....in a certain website I found that as review people have said that using the converter generated dark borders around the picture for Sony H1 ,H2 cameras, thus I want to know-

1). whether my H10 wud also be susceptible to the same problem

2).people have said that by zooming in the dark edges could be avoided....my question is if I need to zoom in doesn't it seem that that the sole purpose to spend my hard earned money is not met.

3) shall I get any test shots by the same lens anywhere in the net.

You will likely get the same vignetting on your pictures due to the depth of the wide angle attachment. If you zoom it to avoid that issue, you are effectively eliminating the benefits of the the extra wide ability.

Usually, these attachments are not worth the money. If you are unsatisfied with the wide angle performance of your camera, you are better off getting one that has the ability you seek. There are point and shoot cameras out there that go moderately wide, but usually with lots of distortion and chromatic abberations. To really get into wide angle photography, you would need an SLR with a lens that would equate to about 16-20mm in 35mm format.
